The Finnish people today make up about 35% of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries when immigration was highest, the Finnish people made up the majority of the population. This book was originally published in Finnish by Armas K. E. Holmio; a Finnish immigrant, pastor and professor (1897-1977).
